Originally from California, Megan is a graduate of both the University of California-Irvine (B.A. degrees in Film & Media Studies and English) and Chapman University, where she received her MFA in Film Production with an emphasis in Directing. She is an Assistant Professor of Television and Film Arts at SUNY Buffalo State University.
Megan has written, directed, and produced multiple award-winning stage shows and short films. Her stories focus on underrepresented or overlooked character perspectives, exploring the struggles, challenges, and joys of what it means to be human. Her feature-length script and a short narrative film were both presented at the University of Film and Video Association conference in 2025, and a pilot she directed has been in several festivals and won a Bronze Telly Award.
She has worked with Academy Award nominee Hailee Steinfeld on multiple projects, has been a speaker at the Fred Rogers Legacy Conference, and students have won multiple student Emmys under her guidance.
She is married to her husband, Kyle, and they have one daughter, Audrey, named after Hollywood legend Audrey Hepburn. They also have a super dog named Bolt (yes, from Disney fame), a box turtle of unknown age or origin named Bubba, a cat named Dottie (who is much like her name), a cockatiel bird named Theo after President Roosevelt, and they look forward to adding a New York rescue kitty and promised frogs to the menagerie soon.
