Biography

Lou Rera is an Associate Professor in the Communication Department and the Television and Film Arts Program at SUNY Buffalo State. His teaching expertise is in the area of media production for film, television and digital distribution. He is a professional designer, media producer, writer and musician.

He is a member of the New Media Consortium (NMC), an international not-for-profit consortium of learning-focused organizations dedicated to the exploration and use of media and new technologies. His current research in academics focuses on the use of social media and digital distribution systems as productive tools in education. As a writer, he is a member of the Horror Writers Association (HWA), Just Buffalo Literary Center, and the Short Fiction Writers Guild. Lou has worked as a media producer for film, commercial television and corporate clients. He is an experienced music producer, writing and recording music in Western New York, New York City and Los Angeles.

His novel, SIGN, was published by Netherworld Books in June 2014, and his collection of flash fiction: There are no doors on a cocoon, was published in 2008. His flash fiction has won awards and has been published in print and online publications.
