Carol Beckley is the chair of the Theater Department. Courses taught include Introduction to Theater, Theater Fundamentals, Set Design, Intro to Theater Design, Period Styles, Script Analysis, Scene Painting, Costume Design, and Senior Seminar. Her professional work encompasses theater, dance, television, commercials, trade shows, and film, spanning various areas, including set design, costume design, art direction, photography, and scenic art.
She has designed scenery for over 200 theater and dance productions across the US and Canada, and has served as the art director for network television programming on PBS, Showtime, and Fox. National clients for trade show and commercial design include Aetna, Comerica, Fisher-Price, Mattel, RadioShack, PepsiCo, the Southwest Football Conference, and Toys R Us. Her photography has been featured in numerous ad campaigns, including the cover shot for American Cueist Magazine.
Carol has presented her award-winning work with students at the National Conference for Undergraduate Research, the New York State Art Teachers Association Conference, the Kennedy Center/American College Theater Festival, and the Great Lakes Independent Schools Arts Festival. She has also taught graduate classes at Art Park and served as a visiting artist at the University of Buffalo.
Carol attended the Fashion Institute of Technology for Interior Design, received a BFA in Theater Design from Ithaca College, and an MFA in Stage Design, magna cum laude, from Southern Methodist University.
